Over the years, we’ve helped hundreds of women to start their own business. In our 2018 social impact report, 27% of all of our loans were delivered to female business owners. We are confident that this figure will grow as we increase access to fair and responsible finance for women.
The 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNDSGs) are close to our heart. This includes target 5.5 which calls for 'women’s full and effective participation and equal opportunities for leadership at all levels of decision making in political, economic and public life'.
We’ve seen the positive impacts of empowering women in business. They have, and continue to, impact the wellbeing of their communities in new, innovative, and sustainable ways.
From a social enterprise that delivers personalised support and guidance for people looking to improve their lives, to community retailers who provide a platform for local artisans, to an innovative veterinary service provider who tackles pet injuries and human isolation, we witness and celebrate the positive difference that women in business make on a daily basis.
We welcome the government’s ambition to increase the number of female business owners to 600,000 by 2030. Deloitte estimates that targeted help for early stage women entrepreneurs could provide a £100bn boost to the UK economy over the next 10 years.
As an official delivery partner and the region's leading provider of Start Up Loans, we look forward to helping more women start new businesses.
