We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Business Finance specialist to join our team in the Yorkshire & Humber, supporting businesses across Yorkshire & Humber in securing the funding they need.

As a Business Finance Investment Manager, you will play a key role in meeting businesses, assessing, evaluating, and writing business finance applications, ensuring each deal is thoroughly reviewed and aligned with our lending criteria. Collaborate with Accountants, Business Advisers, Brokers & Key Stakeholders, to grow your network and promote Business Enterprise Fund (Yorkshire & Humber).

Reporting to the Senior Investment Manager. You will work closely with the Senior Investment Manager to increase our brand awareness, grow our Introducer & Stakeholder Network, meet with a wide range of businesses, from start-ups to well-established enterprises, helping them access the financial resources necessary to expand, innovate, and achieve their goals.

Head of Investments

Managing all Heads of within the Sales & Investment team, enabling a wider perspective and being a key contributor to the organisation and the Senior Manager Team. This role will involve directing the operational aspects of the company to ensure that it’s business objectives are met efficiently and effectively.

To work with the CEO on BEF’s strategic goals, set by the board. A development role initially, it is envisaged that the role will become an approved role under the FCA SMCR and a board position.

Operational:

To manage and mentor the Heads of Regions, setting clear performance expectations and goals for the team. Providing guidance and support resulting in a culture of continuous improvement.
To manage the Start-up loans (SULC) team and ensure successful delivery of the contract with British Business Bank.
To support the CEO by building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, partners and other industry professionals.
To support the CEO with the Management of Funds working with fund managers and stakeholders.
To oversee the BEF lending strategy through the loan origination process, from initial enquiry to loan approval. Supporting with credit panel reviews, identifying correct fund allocation and the signing of legal documentation.
To manage the underwriting process, ensuring loans are evaluated based on creditworthiness and risk.
To manage the lending portfolio, monitoring performance, identifying potential issues and providing solutions the mitigate risk.
To contribute to corporate strategy to ensure that the company achieves its short and long-term objectives.
To work collaboratively with the compliance manager to adopt, adapt and implement relevant procedures to comply with the regulatory framework and achieve the most effective processes for the firm.
To work with Finance to assist in developing and controlling operational budgets to promote profitability and ensure the company has all the resources required to meet its objectives within agreed financial parameters.
To collaborate with the HR Manager on aspects of people engagement and management and develop systems and processes to ensure safe and healthy working environments across all company locations and for staff operating remotely
To act as the company’s main adviser on all issues relating to Investments and keep abreast of latest developments to ensure that the company maintains its competitive position.
To develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure that core operational functions achieve their business objectives.
Identify innovative solutions that will allow for operational efficiencies and help drive BEF’s strategic goals.

Compliance:

This role is certified by BEF under the FCA SMCR and you will be required to engage with and meet the assessment standards set on an annual basis to be approved by BEF for certification. Approval is mandatory for the continuation in role.
The role is expected to become a role under FCA SMCR SMF3 and a board role after a satisfactory probation period.
You will abide by the FCA Senior Manager & Certification Regime Conduct Rules and meet the Fit & Proper assessment criteria which includes, but not limited to, providing credit references and DBS checks upon request.
