Some vets like to Meowve it, Meowve it!

Veterinary Nurse brings industry-leading pet care to the North East thanks to a Start Up Loan from BEF.

Vets on the Meowve is revolutionising veterinary care for pets and their owners in the North East. Launched in March 2018 by veterinary nurse, Christine Murphy, it offers a friendly, convenient, and highly personal service that brings the vet to the pet.

From vaccinations to blood tests, to prescription checks and vet consultations, Vets on the Meowve deliver services in the comfort of the pet and owners home. This alternative approach to veterinary care has proved popular with pet owners who struggle to attend appointments outside of their home.

Christine said: “I love meeting new people every day and getting to know them and their pets. Veterinary practices can be very stressful places for pets, owners and staff. Our approach removes the stress for everyone. I share a fun and happy work environment with veterinary surgeon Konrad Kozinski and wonderful clients.”

Vets on the Meowve currently refer a large number of pet surgery requirements to alternative veterinary practices. This is set to change in early 2019 thanks to a £20,000 Start Up loan delivered by BEF.

The Start Up loan has enabled Vets on the Meowve to purchase and convert a large van into a specialised mobile pet surgery unit complete with 6 kennels. Scheduled for launch in March 2019, the mobile pet surgery unit will enable routine surgeries and some emergency medical procedures without the pet owner having to leave home.

In addition, the Start Up loan has supported the launch of a brand-new website and an innovative marketing campaign to attract new clients.

Christine said: “This is an exciting time for Vets on the Meowve. Our new pet surgery services will make a huge difference to clients as it saves them time and further stress. It will allow us to grow the business and employ new staff.”

When asked about her experience with BEF Christine said: “I was advised to approach BEF and I’m glad that I did. Doug and Julie were very positive, supportive and full of great advice.”

Christine’s advice for fellow entrepreneurs is to do market research to make sure the product/service is viable, get great advice and help, and take a solution focused approach to every challenge.

Christine said: “If you really want it to work then it will work. Don’t listen to negativity.”
