BEF have been shortlisted for the Natwest SE100 Social Business Awards.

BEF are one of the 29 finalists for the awards that support the development and growth of social enterprise and mission-driven business across the UK.

BEF are pleased to announce that they are one of the 29 high-performing finalists for the Natwest SE100 Social Business Awards.

The SE100 Awards were created by Pioneers Post more than a decade ago in partnership with NatWest Social & Community Capital, the social investment charity founded by NatWest bank. Their aim is to support the development and growth of social enterprise and mission-driven business across the UK through celebrating and sharing stories of success – and the challenges and solutions behind them.

For the first time this year, all social enterprises have also been assessed for their commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion. To become a finalist, organisations must have shown commitment to do well across all these criteria, as well as strong performance in their particular award category.

Finalists for the 2022 Social Business Awards are chosen across seven different categories. BEF are shortlisted for the Social Business Champion award. This award is for established social ventures (trading for at least five years) that have experienced positive financial growth and delivered strong social impact over the past year, thanks to an entrepreneurial and sustainable business model. The award is supported by Buzzacott and UnLtd.

The final winners will be named at a celebration hosted by NatWest in London on Thursday 23 June.

Steve Waud, CEO of BEF said: "We are delighted to be shortlisted for this award which reflects our ongoing mission. As a not-for-profit social enterprise, we deliver flexible finance that impacts businesses and the communities they serve. Over the last year, we've worked hard to help create and sustain over 3,000 jobs through the creative use of flexible finance. The majority of our lending was delivered to businesses within the most deprived communities in the country. This means we impact is felt by those who needed it the most."
