Paul Connaughton, founder of JPC Specialist Motorsports in Stokesley, announced as North East Ambassador.
Yorkshire and The Humber is now the UK’s most entrepreneurial region outside of London and the South East, according to the Start Up Loans Company.
Recently published data shows that the Government-backed scheme has lent £41m to small businesses in the Yorkshire and The Humber region since its launch in 2012.
As an official delivery partner of the Start Up Loans
Company, BEF has lent £12m (30%) of the £41m.
Simon Jackson, Head of Lending at BEF said: “We are delighted to have helped hundreds of small businesses in Yorkshire and Humberside to start or grow. From Filmmakers to food producers to concrete specialists, we’ve delivered Start Up Loans to a diverse group of small business owners who wouldn’t have succeeded without one.”
Overall, more than 5,000 loans, averaging £8,000 each, were issued to small business owners. The loans are complimented by business support and mentoring.
Simon Jackson continued: "We are confident that the region will continue to be a hotbed for start-up businesses. We are committed to helping each one grow, thrive and make a positive impact in their community."
